Ring of Roses Applique Quilt was appliqued and quilted in a large Pennsylvania community of Mennonite who are Old Order, which means that they do not drive automobiles. Because they are Old Order, where they live in this area of Lancaster County, there are many carriage shops (to repair buggies), and men wearing black trousers and women with solid colored dresses of purple and blue are a common sight, and their clean clothes wave to all from a clothesline strung high in the backyard on Mondays, their laundry day.
