Wonderfully handquilted with approximately 6 handquilted stitches per inch, this Poppy Garden Amish Quilt shows the love that the Old Order Mennonite has for the flowers and farm life with the poppys sprouting all throughout them, and swaying in the ever present wind that drives the windmill sitting on top of the ridge, that in turn powers the well for the water to feed the garden. This Poppy Garden Applique Quilt with Border is done in roses and burgundy, with a touch of navy blue, and then the distinctive Poppy leaves are various shades of green and sage. It comes from Lancaster County Pennsylvania, the heart of PA Dutch country.
