The Mariners Compass Quilt pattern is a design that has the star radiating from a circle, and often has 16 or even 32 points on it.  A look at old sailing charts will reveal this very pattern (sometimes called a compass rose) as the guide for the sea captain.  The first dated quilt using this Mariners Compass pattern is from the early 1700s, and was made in England.  Variations from this pattern abound, but still the basic compass rose is still evident in all the Mariners Compass patterns.

This Mariners Compass Log Cabin Quilt measures  102 x 115 inches  to fit your Queen or King bed.  Handquilted by Susan Z, a Lancaster County PA woman, and has approximately  5 handquilted stitches per inch.  Susans initials, SZ, are on the back of this Amish quilt, which is a white on light cream fabric. The border and other select fabrics in the quilt sparkle due to the golden lines within the different fabrics.

Living in the heart of Lancaster County PA is like living in a different era, when the rural way of life was the norm, and folks all knew and cared for each other.  That is the neighborhood of Susan Z, who loves to quilt and just be with her family and friends.

This quilt comes with a free fabric storage bag.
